Tola’s Travels Tips & Tricks: When you’re a single parent, mom or dad, you know the difficulties that come with the territory. You live them every day. So, you know that even under the best circumstances there will still be challenges to face and overcome. Our routines must seem like gymnastics to some, what with all the obstacles we’re forced to maneuver, but there’s also the sense of accomplishment when you and your child do what many say was impossible – like taking a trip without losing our minds.

This page is dedicated to all the little tips and tricks I’ve picked up while traveling with my child to many destinations around the globe. We’ve handled each one in our own way and learned a great deal throughout the process. There are a couple rules of thumb that, if you follow them closely, will always see you through to your goal – with your wits intact and a smiling child.

Make transportation as simple as possible.
Pack everything you’ll need in a worse-case scenario.
Find a place that welcomes your child before you plan anything else.
Don’t be afraid to ask the locals for help.
Spend as much as you can afford – it’s a vacation.
Take every picture you possibly can – they’re only young once.

I’ll cover all sorts of things on this page and try my best to share what I feel will make a positive impact on your next trip. I’ve learned quite a bit through trial and error, so if I can save every one person from making the same mistakes I did then it’s all worth it. I hope you feel the same!
